During one of my recent and rare trips to a card show, I was busy flipping through a box of discounted vintage hockey when I ran across this card:
…and I thought “HAH! It’s Kate Micucci with a mustache!”
If the name doesn’t ring any bells for you, she’s half of the musical/comedy team of “Garfunkel And Oates”, and has had recurring roles on “The Big Bang Theory”, “Scrubs” and “Raising Hope”.
I’ll let you draw your own conclusions…
As for Denis Dupere, he was a journeyman NHL player best known for his wrist shot. Originally New York Rangers property, he was traded to Toronto in exchange for Tim Horton.
After the 1973-74 season, Dupere was taken from the Maple Leafs by the Washington Capitals in the expansion draft. Dupere would play most of the season with the Caps and would be their first All-Star representative.
During their inaugural season, the Caps would trade him to St. Louis; after that season, he got traded to the Capitals’ expansion partner, the Kansas City Scouts.
He’d move with the Scouts to Denver, and then would go on to play and coach in France.
