About

I’m Joe Shlabotnik. I’ve been collecting since 1974, and since I’ve never done any purges until fairly recently, I’ve got way too much stuff.

1974 Shlabotnik

The purpose of this blog is to keep me focused on the task of organizing, focusing and purging my collection, and sharing all the cool stuff I discover/rediscover along the way.

It’s also my social outlet for all things collecting, because none of my “real life” friends are into baseball cards.

My teams are the Mets, Orioles and Steelers, but I also love attending minor league and college baseball games.  At various points in the past, I’ve been a fan of various NHL teams, NASCAR racing and minor league soccer.

Check out Joe Shlabotnik’s Cards!  (My COMC store)…  Any profits are used to buy cards from other COMC dealers in order to enhance the world-famous Shlabotnik collection.  In other words, nobody’s getting rich here.  Well, OK, maybe the COMC guys are getting rich, but I’m not.

  1. Hey there Joe,

Didn’t have your e-mail address handy, so I thought I’d hit you up here. I’m holding a jumbo case break of next year’s Topps S1 and I still have the Orioles slot available. The case break also contains a raffle for a chance to win an entire jumbo box of ’13 Topps S1. You get a free raffle slot with each team slot you secure. If you’re interested, you can hit me up at crackinwax [at] varsitytradingcards [dot] com. Thanks, sir!

  2. Joe,

I’ve been reading this blog for a couple of years now, and I have enjoyed your posts very much, especially those regarding your custom cards. Great designs, by the way! I just wondered if you had ever run across my site when you were perusing the web: the New York Mets Hall of Records (http://www.hagenspan.com/NYMHall/mets.html). It’s not nearly as original as yours, but it’s got LOTS of scans of Mets cards.

    Best wishes …

    • I loved reading Peanuts as a kid and find this to be very amusing. I was going to mention this as well until I saw your comment.

  3. Joe, I am interested in any 1971 Milk Duds or 1969/70 Transogram cards you have. I have several items you collect and/or cash for trade. Thanks.

  4. Hi Joe. Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that I’m really enjoying your site. I recently started creating my own custom cards, so it’s fun to see the designs you’ve made. Great stuff!
